Saw this on HackerNews. While Facebook spins the story about integrating and making all of their messaging apps ((Messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram) end-to-end encrypted, the real likely goal is below.

Now Facebook will monetize meta connections (connections that will increase since WhatsApp people will be able to message Instagram and Messenger people). WhatsApp usernames will likely be tied to Facebook Profiles. Look for new ad tracking & monetization.

The biggest most treasured gift I received today, was being called kind. It seems too much though.
